The ECT is about stacking strength, while burst strength measures puncture resistance. For retail boxes, ECT is what matters since boxes get stacked far more than they get punctured.
Standard corrugated loses strength when wet. For humid climates or cold chain routes, specify moisture resistant coatings or liners before production.
